Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered in a site search tool is sent to the independent provider operating that search. That provider processes the query and returns any result. This site does not store or log search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to the site may be retained to prepare a response. It stays within the organization unless disclosure is required by a legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, servers may receive technical information associated with the visit:
- The IP address assigned to the device
- The browser and its version
- The device type and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent on a page
- The referring site, when one is supplied
- Time records for page views
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files stored on a device. They can help measure traffic patterns and page use. Browser settings can block cookies, though some functions may then behave differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Operate and maintain the site
- Route a search query to the relevant provider
- Understand broad page-use patterns
- Diagnose and address technical problems
- Serve advertising that may be relevant to a visitor
No Court-Record Data on File
This site does not host, maintain, compile, or sell a database of Grand Traverse County court dockets or personal case-record information. It provides general directions to the Grand Traverse County Clerk / Circuit & Family Court Records Division, the 86th District Court clerk, the Probate Court clerk/register, MiCOURT, and local court portals. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party files.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes on this site. Data submitted to one of those tools is handled under the provider's privacy policy, retention practices, and sharing choices. Those practices are outside this site's control.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to court, clerk, MiCOURT, or other outside resources. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's own privacy policy applies. Review it before providing personal information.
Advertising partners may track activity across websites to deliver ads. Any such tracking occurs through their systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Information may be received by:
- Search providers that process a submitted query
- Analytics services used for traffic and performance measurement
- Advertising networks that place ads on the site
- Government or law-enforcement bodies when a valid legal order requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to safeguard collected data. Internet systems cannot promise complete security, so no method of transmission or storage can be guaranteed free from a breach.
Users Under 18
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18. If a minor's information is believed to have been submitted, the request for removal can be sent to the site.
Your Data Rights
This policy does not claim a Michigan consumer-privacy statute for site visitors. Michigan court-record access is governed instead by Michigan Court Rule 8.119, while MCL 15.232 excludes the judiciary and a county clerk acting as circuit-court clerk from Michigan FOIA's definition of a public body. At a minimum, a visitor may:
- Ask for a copy of personal information kept by the site
- Ask to correct information that is inaccurate
- Request deletion of personal information
- Ask about options to limit certain data processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may change over time. A revised version will appear on this page with an updated effective date.
